WASHINGTON, D.C. – Retail and Hospitality Information Sharing and Analysis Center (RH-ISAC) has released a guidance report that has been prepared in collaboration with cybersecurity experts and government partners to prepare retailers for potential hacking threats during this holiday shopping season.
Built on insights from leading retailers and cybersecurity industry firms, as well as law enforcement and government officials, the report includes:
- An overview of credible cybersecurity threats and the measures that retailers should use in protection and detection of potential attacks
- An analysis of other cyber-attack trends to date in 2015, including wire transfer email scams and e-commerce fraud
- Possible indicators of a cyber-attack of which retailers should be aware – specifically, the threat posed by a sophisticated criminal malware framework that’s been used this year to target retailer Point Of Sale (POS) systems
- Short-term recommendations for attack detection that are the least disruptive during the critical holiday sales period
- Additional long-term measures for retailers to proactively prevent security breaches
